Malaysia stock markets close higher on Wall Street's rally

Kuala Lumpur - The Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE) in tandem with other regional bourses, closed higher today in moderate trading aided by the sharp rebound on Wall Street last Friday.

The benchmark Composite Index (CI) jumped 17.46 points or 2.446 per cent to 731.09, after attempts to breach the immediate 730-resistance level finally succeeded one minute before close. The blue chip Emas Index rebounded 112.24 points to 5,570.17. Advancing counters beat decliners by 512 to 91, while 120 counters were unchanged and 287 others untraded.

Daily market volume rose to 138.418 million shares valued at 347.30 million ringgit (102 million dollars) versus 120.047 million shares at 336.310 million ringitt last Friday. (la/dpa)
